May 21, 2010 How to Disable Registration Reminders In a similar vein as the last entry, here are some instructions for how to disable the launch of Adobe Application Manager at the second product launch when the user is requested to register the product. It is possible to suppress registration via an override mechanism. The installer places a flag in a database on the users system. Any product which licenses reads this flag and determines whether or not to invoke AAM for registration. Enterprise customers can suppress registration as part of the normal enterprise deployment toolkit (AAMEE) workflow. This toolkit should have a public, free release in early June along with documentation for how to suppress registration. For any volume customers who are distributing prior to the upcoming release of AAMEE you can suppress registration in the following manner: Create the override file with a Registration Suppress tag and pass it in the command line to the Bootstrapper (Set- up.exe or Install.app) via param overrideFile. Win: Set-up.exe –mode=silent –deploymentFile=”” –overrideFile=”” –installSourcePath=”” –action=”” Mac: Install.app/Contents/MacOS/Install –mode=silent –deploymentFile= –overrideFile= –installSourcePath= –action=”” Hopefully most people will be able to wait until early June with the first release of AAMEE so the above workaround is not necessary. Eric, A couple questions: – Is the Mac command accurate? I see pairs of double quotes after each equals sign in the Windows command, but only one pair of double quotes after the “action” flag in the Mac command. – Is the correct format of the override file is described here, at least as far as the Registration Suppress tag? – Will this suppression work with InCopy CS5? – I have a FileWave-based distribution of CS5 that I’m mostly happy with, short of the registration prompts. If I run this installation (ours is Acrobat CS5, Design Premium CS5, and InCopy CS5) what file(s) do I need to replace in my distribution? I think it’s this one: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache/cache.db Thanks to whoever responded on the MacEnterprise List with a pointer to this blog post. Eric, First, let me say thank you for all of the hard work you’ve done, this blog is an incredible resource to any sysadmin looking to deploy Creative Suite. I ran into a difficult problem with the CS4 installer. We have users on campus who would simply like to install Photoshop, or one other part of the suite, but because we have a license for the suite as a whole it really isn’t possible to break it up. What I found is that even with the xml files passed to the installer to tell it which products in the suite to install, the user is still prompted with a dialog with the ability to add/remove components if they already have one product from the suite installed. I’d like to be able to provide installers for each component in the suite separately, and allow the user to selectively install these components from our networked application distribution software (ZENworks Configuration Management). The provision of AAMEE to create an MSI installer sounds tantalizing, but can you tell me whether I will be able to do what I want to do with AAMEE? Thank You, Jacob. Jacob, Let me try to say back to you what I think you’re asking. Is it possible to install only a point product (say Adobe Photoshop) and use the Suite license? However, the workflow isn’t as straightforward as we would like. With CS4 the easiest way to do it is to install Adobe Photoshop in trial mode from the Adobe Photoshop media. Then, when prompted from launching the product, enter the Suite serial number. This will also work for CS5; but, with CS5’s AAMEE there is also a tool that will let you serialize the product post-install with a script. Eric, I used: sudo /Volumes/Adobe CS5 Design Premium/ Adobe CS5 Design Premium/Install.app/Contents /MacOS/Install –mode=silent –deploymentFile= /Users/admin/Desktop/Deployment_Files/DP_CS5 /deploy/install-en_US.xml –overrideFile=/Users /admin/Desktop/Deployment_Files/DP_CS5/ application.xml.override.txt I got the gist of the setup from the CS4 enterprise documentation, including the override file setup. I think a few of the flags (installSourcePath, action) you included are optional, so no big deal. To answer my second question, to move the licensing (and registration suppression) into a previously-created distro of CS5 you need this directory: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/ – Patrick.

Change the version to v10 beta53 using the D-PAD (left/right). • Move down, and change the IOS Base to 56. • Move down again, and change the IOS slot to 249. • In some cases it may warn you that the current (c)IOS or stub will be overwritten. You can ignore this warning. • If you want, you can change the revision under the fourth option, though this doesn't directly change the result. • This revision is only used by the Wii when checking updates. You can set the version to maximum (65535) to prevent any future updates from overwriting it (the installer can still overwrite it). • This option does not appear on the WiiU installer. I got the Homebrew Channel and USB Loader GX, I used the WiiBackupManager and was able to make the game show up and I tried pressing play but there was a black screen and I was back in the Homebrew Channel. I looked around the forums here and I tried using the d2x cIOS installer and I tried following the directions but d2x v8 final was not an option because d2x v6 is the latest one I see on the d2x installer version: 3.1 (I have the folders for v7, v8, and v10 in the installer folder but they do not appear when I am on it). I was confused on why d2x v8 final was not an option and thought the installation was somewhere else and I pressed A and went to 249 on the slot map and pressed A again to install the cIOS to 249 on slots map. (249 and the rest were stubbed purple on the slot map.) Settings I installed to 249 on the slots map: Select cIOS Select cIOS base Select cIOS slot Select cIOS revision The 249 turned red so it is now ACTIVE (c)IOS Then I tried: Select cIOS Select cIOS base Select cIOS slot Select cIOS revision Because the forum told me so I tried what I could do. I was able to get my game to load from the SD card by 'Configurable USB Loader' but I wish I could install the game to the Wii HDD. WiiFlow reads my HDD but fails loading the game. TLDR; USB Loader GX does not recognize my USB HDDs. Original: I am having the same trouble as OP. I launch a game from USB in the loader and it goes back to HBC. I started from v3.4U. Used BanneBomb to softmod, installed HBC, and IOS 58. I ran through the tutorial posted above. Posted pretty much the same files from the tutorial. D2x says 'Current IOS: 58 v6175.' Do I need to 'load' the installed in slot 249? USB Loader GX no longer reads my USB drive (I tried 2 formatted FAT32) and WiiFlow takes me back to HBC when I try to launch a game. I'm at a loss. Henchman, I love your enthusiasm for mastering the basic building blocks in audio post, but to my ears Speakerphone really does treat sounds in ways that can't be quickly duplicated with those tools. Often Speakerphone perfectly nails the exact combination of resonance and amplitude-dependent distortion that is exhibited by common devices in the real-world. Could you make an 80s-era Casiotone keyboard speaker with basic tools? Yes, but it would take a long time, and Speakerphone lets you dial it in in just a couple of minutes. To the original OP, I haven't tried Speakerphone's competition, so I can't tell you what is or isn't better, but I'm a happy owner of SP.I just can't bring myself to spend $500 on a plug-in that does something I can already do with existing plugins. I do find it funny to see people jumping on plugins like speakerphone, that you use maybe 5% in a mix. But then hum and haw about spending $500 an a really good unwrap plugin, that you'll use, in the case of a lot of shows 50-80% in your mix. I think it's only $149, so it's relatively cheap. I agree that Speakerphone is way overpriced if you are just using it for standard futzing, plus it's almost useless on a dub stage except for milking overtime, which is never a good idea. However, for certain sound design purposes it can be brilliant and does things that no other plugin can, but that is stuff that should be done in the editing room, not on a dub stage. However, for certain sound design purposes it can be brilliant and does things that no other plugin can, but that is stuff that should be done in the editing room, not on a dub stage.Agreed. Why do you think so? I find it very easy and quick to use.Aside from automation and stability issues, I just don't find the speaker simlations and presets particularly useful as-is, so I wind up having to spend too much time tweaking the settings, which are very small and aren't laid out well, IMO. If I need to EQ or compress the futz I get much better results with my regular EQ or compressor. It's a whole lot faster to just do what Mark does - it works extremely well and is easy to adapt to the needs of the moment. Like I said, I use Speakerphone often as an audiosuite plugin for sound design, and it can do amazing and wierd things, but it's way over-kill for standard futz needs and it's never quick and easy to get to what I want. I've used both Speakerphone and Fuzzbox extensively and have found the following. When I was mixing 'Unfriended' literally all of the dialog had to be futz'd because it was a horror film taking place entirely though Skype connections. I started with speakerphone as my futz machine and it was a huge PITA. The plugin sounds excellent but the automation bugs are enough to drive a man crazy. I brought in Futzbox because the automation is MUCH more stable, but the device convolutions are not as pleasing and you can't dial things in quite as well. The added convolutions in speakerphone for verb and covers were excellent for ADR matching and futzing all in one place. The gate in Futzbox made it really easy to create the breaking connection sounds and was easily automatable. Over all I think Speakerphone makes a nice set and forget plugin for creating a specific 'Tone' and Futzbox can be a much more reliable tool to be able to tweak and modify the sound when needed. I think Speakerphone creates a way more Modern Phone Filter than what you can do with the Henchman method. The GSM tuning and glitches and static, etc - you don't get that with Comp n EQ. My problem is my Clients won't accept it. They have the classic Henchman sound in their head. And, as always, give em what they want.Yup, most times I use speakerphone, I tweak away until it sounds just like the real thing only to have my client think it sounds 'wrong'. I've now gone back to the old school and clients never complain. It never hurts me to give the client what they want.Simply put, yes. Always at the end. But, communication and earned trust is key. At times, you have to explain, simplify and translate your intention to their understanding; [did Bobby finally get his wheat toast? >> 'Five Easy Pieces'] That said, I do use Speaker Phone a lot and I like it. Saves them time. Once the show is on air (I do TV only) most people can't tell if that BG was processed with SP or via a chain of other plugins. Just my opinion. Many modern video cameras output in the AVCHD format, this creates MTS files that you need to import into Premiere to edit together and work on as you desire. Although the file format is standard. Dealing with MTS files Importing MTS files is a simple process, start a new project from the main menu You can then give it a suitable name and adjust where the files are to be located as usual. Once the project is created there are two ways to approach the import process. You can used the media browser to explore the media on your computer and attached drives as here However, if you know where the file is the quicker method is to use file>import to bring up the standard operating system file browser interface and navigate straight to it as here. One of the most frequently asked questions about Adobe Encore DVD is how to create a menu. Building a Play All Menu in Adobe Encore. Adobe Encore CS4. After processing the file, you are left with your project ready to go. Switch to the Project Panel and there is the imported media as we can see here. You can now drag the file into the Source and Timeline panels to start work on it as with any other project. 2. Video Camera Exceptions For some types of video camera there are issues that can be thrown up. The key when importing directly from camera output if you find issues is to use the media browser to import the entire folder structure of the avchd output from the camera, this ensures that any needed associated files are included with the MTS files for use. You end up with the same final point where the clips are in the Project Panel ready to be dragged onto the timeline for editing. This is the contents of a card from a Panasonic Camera for instance Now for this camera I know that the video files themselves are located within the Private folder, but if you are unsure you can open each in turn, media browser will show you the media files in each. Although in most instances Premiere will set this automatically, there is a button at the top to highlight the file types you are importing, below is our private folder with the button displaying that it is in avchd mode. Simply select which clips you want to use and import them. Exporting The major factor in your export method is what you want to use the final file for. 3. Exporting to other file types For most circumstances you will probably wish to turn your MTS files into something else, and here the process is made easy for you by Premiere. For YouTube or similar you would choose the H.264 format, and then use one of the many presets included in Premiere to suit the platform, here we are choosing a resolution and frame rate preset for YouTube that matches our original footage. Selecting this and clicking export will render the sequence and automatically convert it onto the new file type for you, ready for upload to your desired medium. 4. Exporting as an MTS file However there are situations that you may find you wish to keep the MTS format. And at first glance this may seem a step too far for Premiere with no option for it in the format menu as we can see here. But there is a solution. Before we get to that though, I would say that for the vast majority of projects and applications, converting the MTS file at this stage is by far the best option, and for most people this should be the route taken. What you actually convert it to is of course dependent on how the final video will be used, but there is enough options within Premiere for more or less any eventuality or requirement. With that out of the way we can look at how to get around the lack of MTS format settings in the export dialogue as we have shown. The first thing to do is highlight the desired sequence within the Timeline or Project Panel, and go through file>export>media to bring up the export dialogue as normal. For our format, as the image shows, we have selected H.264 Blu-ray, and from here we are choosing a preset that is the closest match to our original footage in terms of resolution and frame rate. With that selected, if we look at our output file in detail we can see that although the settings match the original file as we desired, but the Output Name shows the file is an.m4v file, which is not the format we are looking for obviously. However, you can see below we have switched to the multiplexer tab, which is by default set as ‘None’. If we now select ‘TS’, look at what happens to the file type. The settings are all still matching our quality, resolution and frame rate targets, and the file is now, by default, outputting as an m2t file. This is actually the same format, and you can add the ‘s’ on the end for compatibility with no problem once it is created. 5. Creating your Preset The last step that you can do here if you want to regularly output to MTS files is to save these settings as a custom preset. With all the options you selected in place, you click on the button next to the Preset menu as shown here. Clicking the button takes you to the save preset dialogue which allows you to rename the preset to something memorable so you know what it does And finally, if you want to use it again at a later date, you select it like any other preset as here. I hope this walkthrough has shown you that MTS files are not the end of the world to work with, the only tricky bit in the whole process of importing is ensuring that you allow Premiere to ‘see’ the folder structure if the media is coming directly from a camera, this ensured it imports all the various information it needs along with the video for successful editing of the project. Exporting is, as we can see, straightforward once you know where the option is buried, and saving that as a preset means it is always there with a single click just as every other preset included in premiere is in the future. This is a basic tutorial about Adobe Premiere, professional video editing software. However, if video editing is new to you, consider, which is a powerful but easy-to-use tool for users just starting out. So basically you're getting bits that you will probably recognise taken straight outta the Disney classic, and bits that have been taken from the original stories that were left out of the Disney classic. Although I will say right now that I have not seen the Disney movie since I was a kid and I have never read any of the Kipling stories sooo.I know almost zippo here. Yet.I believe most of this is generally coming from the Disney version, more so than the original stories, seemed that way. The plot is very simple with this tale, simple and dumb. A baby Mowgli is left for dead in the Indian jungle after his father is killed by the ferocious tiger Shere Khan. Luckily Mowgli is found by a black panther named Bagheera and taken to a pack of Indian wolves to be looked after. The wolf Raksha raises Mowgli as one of her own in the depths of the jungle, Mowgli becomes a man cub. Everything is fine and dandy until one day Shere Khan decides he wants to eat Mowgli, so the wolves (and other animal friends) decide it would be best to send Mowgli back to his own people. So yeah you gotta take all this with a huge pinch of cosmic salt naturally. Firstly, the animals all have names because of course they do, secondly, they obviously talk.but some don't?? Don't question it. Strati, (pictured) which is Italian for 'layers', has a chassis made of one solid piece and was printed by Arizona-based Local Motors. Pound of Flesh 2015. Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter 2014. Or My Mom Will Shoot 1992. Pride and Glory 2008. Blackhat 2015. Last Knights 2015. Feast of Love 2007. A Good Marriage 2014. CIA Code Name: Alexa 1992. Careful What You Wish For 2015. The Mummy Resurrected 2014. The Backpacker 2011. Thirdly, the plot makes no fecking sense at all, why didn't Bagheera take Mowgli straight back to the human camp (or any humans) when he first found him? What possible good could come from giving him to a pack of wolves to be raised?? Clearly he would never fit in because he's a bloody human being, hello? Lastly, why on earth does it take many years before Shere Khan decides he wants to kill Mowgli? Did he not notice the human child being raised by the wolves? I mean, they all live in the same vicinity do they not. Yes OK its a children's fantasy, but still, no sense whatsoever (and that goes for the Disney version also). Anyway this being a modern movie the main hook will of course be the visual effects, the visual CGI effects and how mesmerising they can be, but are they? Well they are and they aren't really, on one hand the backdrops and locations are gorgeous to look at, even of they are all fake. But if there's one thing CGI can do well its landscapes in the background and oh my this doesn't disappoint. What's even more impressive is some (or all) of these backdrops and landscapes are actually based on real locations in India (so I've read), so even though its CGI magic, its based on real mother Earth. That being said it still can't escape the dreaded greenscreen monster which always rears its ugly head against the live action Mowgli. I'm afraid I have the same complaints with the CGI creatures too. On one hand some of the animals look truly amazing, incredibly authentic.such as the elephants, Bagheera, the wolves, Shere Khan and various smaller mammals. On the other hand some animals look obviously CGI and in some cases hokey.such as Baloo the bear, the monkeys, King Louie, Kaa the snake etc.Another issue I had was the implementation of the actors features into some of the animal characters. This mainly stands out with both Baloo/Bill Murray and King Louis/Christopher Walken. Why the flip would you want either animal to have similar facial features to the voice actor?? It makes Baloo look ridiculous and King Louie look positively scary with his glaring sky blue eyes. Speaking of King Louis, my God! Since when is King Kong in this story?! Jesus Christ they really fudged up on that. Changing Louis from an Orangutan to a Gigantopithecus might be more accurate for the creatures native habitat but it will scare the shit outta the kids! Plus the whole size thing is ludicrous. Segue of sorts onto the voice work here, nope! Now don't get me wrong, most of the animal voices were fine here, mainly because I wasn't really sure who was providing the voices, and that's exactly what you want, what you need!! The casting of Bill Murray, Edris Elba and Christopher Walken was terrible! Absolutely terrible! Bill Murray is literally just doing his usual Bill Murray-ish, deadpan, sarcastic ramblings which might work most of the time, but lets be clear, doesn't work all of the time and in no way fit this character. Walken was clearly given the role to give King Louie a comical, light-hearted, crime kingpin-esque twist on the character which again isn't really right (plus he's too scary for the kids). And lastly Elba voices Shere Khan.so a Bengal tiger with a cockney accent, riiight. I'm sorry but these recognisable voices just didn't fit the bill for me and threw me right out of the picture every time. Naturally the two Disney songs forced in didn't help in any way either, holy schnitzel Walken's singing was atrocious. Without the background chorus from the other monkeys (in the Disney classic) the song just sounds bad, plain bad, all the oo oo oo's and so forth really sound stupid without backup vocals. But needless to say there was really no need for the songs at all, the movie is going for a more sensible approach based on the original stories, the songs were a Disney thing, the two don't really blend here. This ultimately just felt like a cheap nostalgia hook. I also found myself questioning many many stupid points and some plot holes along the way. It is mentioned that elephants are treated almost like Gods of the jungle, that they created the jungle by creating rivers with their tusks etc.wut?? How are they so God-like exactly? Oh and why do elephants apparently not speak? Come to think of it birds don't speak either. Near the start Mowgli is trying to escape from Khan, he finds himself jumping into a muddy trench which suddenly gets clobbered by a stampede of buffalo.yet he survives this by managing to grab onto a passing buffalo horn and riding to safety. Remember, this Mowgli is live action, not a cartoon. Towards the finale Shere Khan is able to beat all the wolves and Bagheera at the same time which in itself is pretty impressive, yet none of the other animals help, not even the rhinos who could surely beat Khan. As Mowgli races back from the human camp with a lit torch he accidentally manages to start a HUGE jungle fire that spreads real fast, from a single ember? At the same time as this Mowgli also manages to run all the way back to the area he grew up in (with the wolves), from the human camp which I thought was a long distance away?? I mean, the whole movies runtime is spent following Mowgli progress further and further away from his home (with the wolves), because he's supposed to be going back to the humans (supposedly some distance from where the animals dwell deep in the jungle). But then right at the end he's able to run all the way back in an instant. Oh and I might mention that both Baloo and Bagheera see where Mowgli is headed at this point in time, but are unable to catch him.and they're animals. One final point which kinda sums up the cheapness of the plot here, Baloo is seemingly bitten badly by Khan in the final fight. I say seemingly because nothing happens with it, it happens, we see it, and there are no consequences. Next scene he's all good and we're moving on. Surprising actually as I was expecting a really gooey emotional moment with that. So in the end what does this offer over the Disney classic? Well not much frankly, visuals aside not very much at all and that's because this movie is essentially all about the visuals. They have used all sorts of new special effects jiggery-pokery for creating realistic animal animations (courtesy of Weta) which admittedly do look slick and sexy for the most part, and as said backgrounds and landscapes do also look fantastic. There are times when this does look more like an educational documentary, and I have since learned more about the jungles of India, but overall I simply can't help but think that's all this is. A glossy effects flick showcasing how good glossy effects can look with the right amount of dosh thrown at them. There was really no need to make a live action version of this tale, for me personally, it just doesn't look right, probably never will, and will always look better animated. In all honesty I can see myself saying the same thing about other future obligatory live action remakes ('The Lion King'). But yet again I find myself asking how this movie did so well, have movie standards really dropped so low? Do people just accept anything average now? Sure this is a fair ride but its nothing special, in no way. A bland, simple remake with shiny effects, generally bog standard A-list voice work, glaring plot holes and touch and go with whether or not its too scary for the kids, hmmm. The Jungle Book is a boring, mechanical, reimagining of a Disney Classic I never found too enticing to begin with. Despite a commendable effort by Sethi the film just lacks the authentic charm and warmth that it chooses to emulate. As a result the movie meanders from one over extravagant set piece to the next as we watch the awkward characters play out their roles with unbelievable motive around a child that is obviously being dictated to rather than having any semblance of free will. By the final acts I was practically begging for the movie to end. It seemed like only a matter of time before those in the Mouse House started looking through the back catalogue of hits for inspiration. The Jungle Book is a live-action remake of the 1967 Disney animated film, but it's only the first of many such translations to come. A live-action Beauty and the Beast is being filmed currently and plans are underway for a possible live-action Aladdin as well, though I pity the actor with the unenviable task of replacing the beloved Robin Williams. I was wary of director Jon Favreau's (Iron Man) version just because it seemed, on the surface, like a quick attempt to fleece the public of their hard-earned money with a repackaged movie. What I got instead was a brilliantly executed adventure story with a beating heart, amazing special effects, and ultimately an improvement on the original. Imagine that. Mowgli (Neel Sethi) is a boy raised by a pack of wolves. He tries to fit in with his pack but he grows a bit too slow and he can't help himself with 'tricks,' making tools. During a drought that signals a jungle wide peace between predator and prey, the feared tiger Shere Kahn (Idris Elba) lets the rest of the animals know his demands. The 'man cub' is to leave or Kahn will hunt him down. The mother wolf, Raksha (Lupita Nyong'o), refuses to part with her child but Mowgli volunteers to leave to keep his pack safe. Kahn chases him deeper onto the outskirts of the jungle where Mowgli teams up with Baloo (Bill Murray), a lackadaisical bear who makes use of his partner's affinity for tools and building contraptions. Mowgli's new life is interrupted when he learns Kahn has attacked the wolf pack with the desire for Mowgli to return and face his wrath. Mowgli must team up with the friends of the jungle and use all his bravery and skills to defeat the ferocious Shere Kahn who has been lusting for vengeance for years. Favreau's version of The Jungle Book is a thrilling and thrillingly immersive visual experience that opens up the big screen as an exciting canvas. The visual wizards have made an entire ecosystem look photo realistic to the point that if somebody said offhand that Jungle Book was shot on location in India, I wouldn't think twice. The environments are entirely CGI and they are brilliantly brought to life in a seamless recreation I haven't seen so effective since 2009's Avatar. It's stunning what can be accomplished with modern special effects, and then there's Favreau's smart decision not to radically anthropomorphize his animal cast. These are not some hybrid human-animal combination but rather flesh-and-blood wild creatures that just happen to speak English when they open their mouths (depending upon your territory). The animals don't fall into that pesky uncanny valley where your brain is telling you what you're watching is fake and unsettling to the senses (see: The Polar Express). The animals and behave like the real deal and further cement the exceptional level of realism of the movie. From a purely visual experience, The Jungle Book is a feast for the eyes that helps raise the bar just a little bit higher for the special effects industry and its proper application. The movie would only succeed so far if it weren't also for its engaging story. Let's be honest about the 1967 Disney animated film: it's not really a good movie. It's fun and has some memorable songs (more on that below), but as a story it's pretty redundant and flimsy. Mowgli bounces around one potential animal group to another trying to find a home only to move on to the next prospective foster situation. I never made the connection before but in a way the movie North is this plot, minus the talking animals and general entertainment value. There are long segments of the original Disney film that coast just on the charisma of the vocal actors and the animation. Certainly the Beatles parody characters haven't aged well. There was plenty that could have been added to this story and screenwriter Justin Marks does just that, making the characters far more emotionally engaging. I felt a swell of sadness as Mowgli is separated from his wolf family, his mother declaring that no matter what he still is her son. Marks also personalizes the stakes between Mowgli and Shere Kahn. Each side has a grudge to settle when it comes to vengeance rather than Kahn rejecting the 'man cub' out of general fear. This Mowgli is also a much more interesting protagonist; he's plucky and uses his 'man cub' other-ness as an asset when it comes to problem-solving. We have a better hero, a better villain, wonderfully brought to life through the velvety roar of Elba, and a small band of supporting characters that are more emotionally grounded. The wolf pack feels like a genuine family, a community. The relationship between Mowgli and Baloo becomes the backbone of the second half of a briskly paced movie, and the predictable narrative steps feel earned, from Baloo's con job to caring for his lil' buddy. The attention to the characters and their relationships provides a healthy sense of heart. The vocal cast is expertly matched with their jungle creatures, notably Elba (Beasts of No Nation) and Murray (St Vincent). Murray has an innate way to make his lazy character endearing. Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) gives a much better motion capture performance as a wolf than whatever the hell she was in The Force Awakens. Scarlet Johansson (The Avengers) is a nice addition as Ka the serpent, and as fans of Her can attest, her breathy voice can indeed be quite hypnotizing. Even the small comic relief animals are well done including the brilliant Gary Shandling in his last film role. Motion capture for non-primates seems like an iffy proposition considering that you're either forcing the human actors to physically walk on all fours and pretend to be animals, which can be silly, or just copying the direct movements of animal models, which seems redundant then with the technological advances. I don't know how they did it but it seems like The Jungle Book found a working middle ground that still showcases actor performances. With a movie that works so well on so many levels, the few faulty areas tend to stand out, and I feel like somewhat of a cad to say that one of the biggest problems is the acting from its child star. I'll give Sethi some leeway here considering he was never interacting with much more than a giant warehouse of blue screens, which I think we've shown doesn't exactly lend itself toward the best live-acting performances (see: Star Wars prequels). When Sethi is in more action-oriented scenes, like running and jumping and generally being physically mobile, his performance improves. However, when he has to shift to portraying emotions beyond fight-or-flight that is where Sethi has trouble. When he's playing 'happy-go-lucky' early on with his wolf brethren, he's way too animated in that way that unrestrained child actors can be without a proper anchor to moor their performance. There were moments that made me wince. I see no reason why an actor under ten should be immune to criticism when warranted. We live in an age of amazing child acting performances, notably evidenced by the incredible Jacob Tremblay in Room. We should expect better from our smaller actors. Unfortunately for Sethi, the visual spectacle is so luscious that the one human element sticks out more when he is also delivering a mediocre to poor lead performance. The other minor detraction for Jungle Book is the inclusion of the two songs that really anyone recalls from the original Disney version, 'I Want to Be Like You' and 'The Bear Necessities.' I'll even charitably give 'Bear Necessities' a pass as it involves a moment of levity and bonding between Mowgli and Baloo and they're simply singing to themselves as they relax down the river. It's also the most famous song and if you think about it the 'Hakuna Matata' of its day. 'I Want to Be Like You' does not deserve the same consideration. It comes at an awkward time and undercuts the build-up of tension and does nothing short of rip you out of the world of the movie. At this point, we've been introduced to the hulking presence of King Louie voiced by Christopher Walken. The giant ape is portrayed like a mafia don and his sit-down with Mowgli has a real menace to it as he wants to provide 'protection' for the man club at a price. It's a moody moment and then this big orangutan starts singing and dancing. The illusion and reality of the movie is broken. At no other point does The Jungle Book come close to breaking its reality and it's all for such an extraneous moment. There's nothing conveyed in this song that couldn't have simply been communicated through speech. Instead, the live-action movie makes a tortured homage to the older Disney source material, and it's the one major misstep in its approach. The Jungle Book is a magical movie that actually improves upon its cinematic source material. It's a visual stunner that is completely transporting and another high-level achievement for the art of modern special effects as well as the proper usage of them in connection with fundamentally good storytelling. Favreau is able to open up a new yet familiar world and allow the viewer a renewed sense of awe. We also get characters that we care about, a strongly grounded sense of emotional stakes, and some thrilling action to go along with the CGI playhouse. I only have a few misgivings with Disney's new Jungle book and one of those is really a function of its homage to the older Jungle Book. I'll take the rare step and advise moviegoers to seriously consider seeing this in 3D (I did not). It's a great visual experience, however, that would only take the movie so far if it wasn't for Justin Marks screenplay adaptation and Favreua's skilled direction. Now The Jungle Book can be a great visual experience, a great story, and, simply put, a great movie. Nate'a Grade: A. Excuse me, but I had to puke just remembering this film (if you can call it that). Okay, who lets these people buy cameras and sneak their crap into the movie system? I started checking who makes the movies before I rent them, but this one slipped through, and believe me, the company is added to my 'don't rent' list.right up there with Fangoria. Don't get me wrong, I allow a lot of gray area for lower budget movies, because I am a die hard Horror fan, but I still believe if you spend money, you should at least be entertained, even if it is poorly. This, on the other hand was one of those movies that don't do anything. I think at one point, I forgot to take it off of pause when I came back from wandering around outside out of boredom and it was in screen saver mode. It took me a few minutes of thinking the action was getting better to realize that it was the name of the DVD player floating around the screen, and I put it into 'play' mode, missing the screen saver already. Hands down, this is a movie that shouldn't have ended up in the rental place. If folks want these, get them from Rhino, don't torture us normal people by sneaking them into the actual movies by making a cool cover, distracting us with boobs and neat monster art, fooling us int renting them. 1/3/2018 0 Comments Print 4 3 CrackleNot sure what to cook? An older version of the three mascots The gnomic elves characters were originally designed by illustrator in the early 1930s. Snap is usually portrayed with a on his head; Crackle often is shown wearing a red (or striped) 's or 'sleeping cap,' and Pop often wears a 's (sometimes Pop is seen also with a chef's toque, or an odd combination of both a shako and a toque). Corporate promotional material describes their personalities as resembling brothers. Snap is the oldest and known as a problem solver, Crackle is an unsure 'middle child' and known as a jokester, and Pop is a mischievous youngster and the center of attention. By Version 1h – Last updated 3/15/201 Microsoft Office 365 offers five primary plans and a variety of special use plans. Which features are or are not included with each plan can be confusing. This article focuses on the P1 plan for small businesses and professionals and will help you select the right plan. The P1 plan is a great value for small businesses. Considering there are at least with 5 employees or less, Microsoft can expect to gain a ton of users for the P1 plan by this time next year. Training will be available at Office365training.com (not affiliated with Microsoft) for end users and plan administrators. Microsoft can and does update the services regularly, so while I’ve checked and re-checked the details, the services and capabilities do change. I am making the assumption in this article that you are already familiar with the services. See the article P1 Plan Features The P1 plan costs $6 per month per user with a minimum of 1 user – an excellent value. The services are delivered from the same platform and data centers as the E plans and include Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online. Is available as an optional add-on. Important features available in both the P1 and E plans include: • 25GB mailbox • Invitations for 50 external users to SharePoint Online • Invitations for 250 users to a Lync Online meeting or webinar with voice and video • Public Web Site • Virus and Spam scanning • Outstanding feature set with Exchange Online capabilities including mail tips, personal archive, distribution lists, conference rooms scheduling, shared calendars, contacts and more. • Web access to mail (Outlook Web Apps) and documents (SharePoint Online • Sync email to mobile device • Document versioning, check in/check out with SharePoint Online • Instant Messaging • Voice and video between Lync Online users • Much more In fact, the P1 Plan includes hundreds of features, all for less than the cost of a movie ticket. Additionally, a few P1 Plan features are not included in some E plans: • Office Web Apps with read/write privileges available in P1/E3 and E4 (see the service description). E2 has Read only. • Available in P1, E3 and E4 P1 Plan Limitations Of course, for the price, limitations are to be expected. What follows is a list of differences between the P1 and E Plans, compiled from multiple sources. There are some surprises here so read carefully. Download Game Balap Mobil ukuran Kecil. Game 3D Rally Racing tampilan sangat mantap. Phone / Ticketed Support Not Included Support is one of the biggest overhead expenses for service providers. Logically, overhead is reduced when support is not provided, resulting in lower plan costs being passed on to the user. However, Microsoft’s language surrounding limitations can be confusing. What they don’t say is often more important than what they do say. Here is the exact language from the “Support for Office 365 is provided by a rich library of online resources including online help, articles, community support, and blogs” What Microsoft doesn’t say here is “phone support is not included.” What Microsoft is saying is that you can post issues to and staff will help answer your questions. Bottom line: If you want to be able to call Microsoft support when you have a problem, you must subscribe to an E plan. Capacity Limited to 50 Users Microsoft covers their bases here by saying that P1 is targeted to businesses of 1-25 users. While a user can double this to 50, not one seat more than 50 is possible. Unable to Upgrade from P1 to E Plan To be comfortable with this limitation, you must be certain you will not grow beyond 50 users in the foreseeable future, or you must be willing to go through an off boarding and on boarding process to move to an E plan. One SharePoint Site Collection To understand what this means, it helps to have a basic understanding of SharePoint Online. With SharePoint Online, you can easily create a website that you can interact with. Websites created with SharePointOnline are hosted in a “Site Collection”. When a site collection is created, a top level website is also automatically created. Site Collection administration takes place in this top level website. Once in the top level site, you can add other websites to the site collection. Each site within a site collection shares attributes inherited from the site collection such as templates that can be applied, permissions, and other settings that flow down from the site collection to the sites. With an E plan, a user can have multiple site collections. With the P1, plan the user can have only 1. Having one site collection will probably not create a large impact for most small businesses of 25 users or less. Multiple site collections are useful when unique teams want their own workspace and separate security settings. You can still control security within sites, but there are considerations to manage, such as giving external users access to sites, which can give them access to the entire site collection. Cannot Buy Additional SharePoint Storage SharePoint Online comes with 10GB of storage overall, plus 500MB for each user. The E plan uses the same formula, but if more SharePoint Online storage is desired, this can be purchased from the Office 365 Portal. The P1 plan does not allow you to buy additional storage. The only way to add space is add users. Directory Synchronization is Not Allowed Due to the success of the Small Business Server product line and a very active SBS (Small Business Server) partner community, many small businesses have Active Directory. While E Plan subscribers can use the directory synchronization tool to replicate users, contacts, distribution lists, and other objects into Office 365, P1 Plan users cannot. I’ve heard that the SBS teams at Microsoft may be working on some tools to help this along, but as of now, if you want directory synchronization, you must purchase an E plan. Federation (Single Sign On) is Not Supported Due to the technical expertise and expense to deploy, it makes sense that Single Sign On is not supported on the P1 plan. Federation is a feature that allows identity to flow between online and on premise systems as if they were one big happy system. In effect, when you log-in to your workstation (using Active Directory), you are logging into Office 365 at the same time. Federation is not simple to configure and requires on-site services deployment as well as a public certificate. When deployed, it’s great to have. Custom Domain Validation Requires Microsoft Name Servers Domain validation is one the biggest support issues for Microsoft. DNS is technical by nature, so many small businesses lacking in-house IT or IT-on-call can stumble here. The question facing Microsoft is “How can we make domain validation and configuration as simple as possible for small businesses that don’t have an IT staff?” Not a simple problem. In addition, if you have difficulties during the process, you can’t call support. To be fair, help on the community.office365.com board is pretty good. The boards are stacked with MVPs, Microsoft support staff, other experts and Partners. Alternatively, consider seeking help from a Microsoft Partner or someone who understands DNS. Microsoft’s solution to simplifying the domain validation and configuration process is to host DNS for your domain. They call this “full re-delegation” in that your domain is delegated to Microsoft DNS servers. This is a “good news, bad news” situation. The good news is that this plan works great for businesses that do not currently use a custom domain with email or a website. The bad news is that the DNS delegation feature can unexpectedly impact your existing website and mail flow. You should be aware of the following issues: Here are three issues of which you should be aware: Updating Microsoft DNS for Your Existing Website Today, many small businesses are supported by websites. Remember that the P1 plan comes with a public website provided by SharePoint Online. Microsoft’s assumption is that you will use the SharePoint Online site for your public site. As a result, when you delegate your domain to Microsoft, the DNS entries in your existing provider’s system are not replicated to Microsoft’s DNS system. If you already have a website and want to insure accessibility throughout the delegation, you must update Microsoft’s DNS entries for your domains immediately after delegation, or use the alternative delegation method described below. Imagine your business is frabirkambooks.com and you have an existing website that your devoted customers find useful to help locate and exchange information on rare books. In your existing DNS system will be an entry associating fabriakmbooks.com and wwww.fabrikambooks.com with an IP address. This may look something like the following screenshot (from the DNS provide ENOM® which provides a very good web based management tool for DNS): Now, look at the screen shot below, which shows the DNS entries Microsoft creates for your domain when it is delegated to Office 365 (P1). Keep in mind that this does not apply to the E plans which have a different process. Compare these entries to the ones from the Enom site and you can see that there are no entries for your existing website. You must add two new entries: 1. An “A” record indicting WWW for the host name, pointed to your web server’s IP address. 2 A catch all entry “@” for the host name as an A record and point to the web server’s IP address. In practice, this procedure may work seamlessly. There is often a delay in DNS that causes the user to go to the old DNS server even after delegation has occurred. The old DNS server has the correct website settings. This lag in DNS works to your advantage as it only takes a few minutes to update the Office 365 DNS settings with your website details. When the lag ends and the user starts to hit the Microsoft DNS servers, the updated web server settings are in place, and all is well. Even so, there is a potential for disruption if the delegation occurs quickly and Microsoft’s own DNS systems are not quick to update. Managing Mail Flow When Delegating Please note that, in the DNS entry example above for fabriakambooks.com, an MX record was created. This means all mail will start to flow to Office 365 as soon as the delegated domain “kicks in” on the internet. In turn, this means mailboxes must be created and assigned to users on the new domain when the mail flow starts. If users are not created, or if you did not assign the users to the delegated domain each user, mail will bounce. Microsoft DNS for P1 allows only for add / edit TXT or CNAME records. If you require other kinds of DNS entries, consider an E plan. DNS Validation for P1 – Alternate Method.NO and.DK domains (denmark and norway) cannot be fully delegated to Microsoft DNS servers. I don’t know why. As a result, Microsoft posted this article explaining how to “partially” delegate a domain to P1 without Microsoft hosting the DNS servers. As it turns out, the process is essentially the same as with the E plans. In short, immediately after validating your domain, end the wizard. Do not delegate the domain. Then you can setup your DNS entries as you would for an E plan. To find out which entries should be added, simply click on the Troubleshoot domain button. I have conversed with several people inside and outside Microsoft that confirm this does work and that in fact, there is no technical reason why Microsoft must host DNS. Microsoft wants P1 users to fully delegate their domains, but in some cases, such as.NO and.DK domains, this isn’t feasible. IMPORTANT: While this method definitely works, it is not officially endorsed by Microsoft. Microsoft prefers you fully delegate your domain. When you do partial delegation, keep in mind that changes you make in the Microsoft DNS system will have no effect. In addition, their domain troubleshooter evaluates the Microsoft DNS settings and not your providers, so it may give a different result than what is actually the case.Online 9. SSL Not Available with SharePoint SSL encrypts the traffic between your computer and the Microsoft data center hosting SharePoint Online. Since SSL is not available with SharePoint Online and the P1 plan, documents you transmit to and from the Microsoft data center are transmitted “in the clear”. This may be an important consideration in your choice of plans. In addition, the unavailability of SSL affects several SharePoint Online features as detailed in You can work around this by adding your SharePoint site to your trusted zone in IE (or other browser) but this is not recommended for security reasons. The above content states: It is not recommended to add your SharePoint Online site to the Trusted Sites zone in Internet Explorer to enable these features. It is best practice to add only HTTPS sites to the Trusted Sites zone. Because your Office 365 for professionals and small businesses sites use HTTP, adding them to the Trusted sites zone may result in security risks. Microsoft has told me they are working on updating the services to provide https capabilites but it is not known when such an update will be availble. My Sites not available in SharePoint Online The MySite feature is not available in the P1 plan. 11. Connect to Office feature not available in SharePoint Online This feature requires My Sites so is not enabled. When it is available, you can click on a button that says Connect to Office and SharePoint resources appear for recent locations in Microsoft Office. In addition, when you create a new document, you have the option of creating the document in SharePoint Online. User accounts set to never expire. P1 user accounts are set so that passwords never expire. Administrator accounts are set to expire in 90 days. In all other Office 365 plans, user accounts are set to be changed every 90 days. This can be changed using powershell. Roles not available in the Office 365 Portal or Exchange Online Larger organization have the need to delegate and control administrative authority over the services. For example, in the E plans, you can give a user the ability to change passwords (for non-admin accounts) without making also making the services administrator. This was not possible in BPOS. Similarly, Exchange Online includes Role Based Access Control with a rich set of abilities to define and assign roles. Working under the assumption that a business from 1-25 does not need to have this kind of granular control, and the desire to simplify administration, the P1 plan does not include these capabilities. Organization wide rules are not available (FOPE) In the E plans, you can create organization wide rules that apply to everyone. Sometimes called 'transport rules' these rules are useful in larger businesses for purposes such as applying a disclaimer or specific message to the end of all mail coming out of Exchange Online. This features is not present in the P1 plan as the FOPE is not accessible. Blackberry Enterprise Services not available Blackberry owners should take note. BES is not availble for P1plan owners. You can use BIS, (Blackberry Internet Services), but you're calendar and contacts do not synch with your phone unless you are synce with your computer. This is not a limiation created by Microsoft, but by RIM. Dynamics CRM connector for SharePoint Online not available. Microsoft has blogged about SharePoint Online updates that are being updated. Users worldwide have received notifications about updates coming that wo. When Microsoft works with a large company, they go through a structured engagement. The engagement model and the materials they use are not generally. Denver's Cloudfest is coming up! I also know that when previous installations of AV software are improperly uninstalled. In this two-part blog article we will take a look at 5Nine Security Manager for Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V. In the first part I will give a global overview and take a look at the installation of this product. In the second part we will take a look at the configuration of this interesting solution. So here we go. In the ‘classic’ world of physical machines there’s in most cases a lot of attention for a secure server environment. People make their environment as secure as possible with firewalls, intrusion detection systems and anti-virus/ anti-malware protection. These products are working very well in the classic physical server environments. However the world of IT is changing and virtualization of servers and devices has become common. Although we are using virtualization techniques for a couple of years now we are still using the security solution in the classic way by installing anti-virus/ anti-mallware agents in the virtual machine and try to controll VM traffic through a physical firewall. These classic ways of securing the IT infrastructure are not efficient and cause unnecessary load inside the virtual machines. This can be fixed smarter, don’t you think so? In Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Microsoft introduced the extensible virtual switch. The Hyper-V virtual switch is a software-based layer-2 network switch. With built-in support for Network Device Interface Specification (NDIS) filter drivers and Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) callout drivers, the Hyper-V virtual switch enables independent software vendors to create extensible plug-ins (known as Virtual Switch Extensions) that can provide enhanced networking and security capabilities. The Hyper-V extensible switch supports an interface in which independent software vendors can extend the switch functionality in the following ways: • The Hyper-V extensible switch supports an interface that allows NDIS filter drivers, known as extensions, to bind within the extensible switch driver stack. This allows extensions to capture, filter, and forward packets to extensible switch ports. This also allows extensions to inject, drop, or redirect packets to ports that are connected to the network adapters exposed in the Hyper-V partitions. • The Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) provides an in-box filtering extension (Wfplwfs.sys) that allows WFP filters or callout drivers to intercept packets along the Hyper-V extensible switch data path. This allows the WFP filters or callout drivers to perform packet inspection or modification by using the WFP management and system functions. In this blog article we will look at a Hyper-V extensible switch extension which uses the Windows Filtering Platform called 5NINE Security Manager. 5Nine Security Manager 5Nine is one of the first companies that came with an extension for the Hyper-V extensible vSwitch. The first version only has a virtual firewall which made it possible to controll traffic to and from virtual machines within the virtual switch. Currently they have three editions of the 5Nine Security Manager: • Essentials Edition (agent-less Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware for multiple hosts and virtual machine, centralized management console, Hyper-V stack management and local GUI for Windows Server 2012). |
